The Virtues of Teaching

A Sacred Duty

Reading Time: 1 minute

Convey (my teachings) to the people even if it were a single sentence..

The Sunnah beautifully illustrates the virtues of imparting knowledge. The Prophet ﷺ remarked, "The one who points to something good gets the same reward as the one who does it."² Teaching is a sacred duty with bountiful rewards, both spiritually and personally.

  1. Cognitive Growth: Teaching deepens our understanding and invigorates the brain, fostering growth and enhancing problem-solving abilities.

  2. Personal Development: Teaching releases positive chemicals in our brain. This journey also refines important skills like patience, communication, and leadership.

  3. Enhanced Creativity: Regular teaching keeps our minds young. It also sparks the creative parts of our brain.

  4. Clear Insights: Teaching helps process information neutrally, reducing our own judgements. It strengthens our empathy, deepening our connections with others.

The Prophet's ﷺ guidance on teaching transcended just religious wisdom. He insightfully noted, "Wisdom is the lost property of the believer. Wherever he finds it, he has a right to it,"³ inspiring believers to embrace and share knowledge from everywhere.

Every nugget of wisdom, regardless of its origin, offers a deeper understanding of our faith.

Reflection:

  1. In your next interaction, consciously share a piece of knowledge or insight that you learned today.

  2. Sharing is Khayring. Share the Daily Sunnah with others.

How did that resonate with you?

Sincerely,

Your Brother & Sister
