🤲 Du’a for Haashim
Laylatul Qadr.
What makes this night so special?
Allah, the Greatest, sent Jibreel—His greatest angel—to Muhammad ﷺ, His greatest prophet, with the Quran, the greatest book, during Ramadan, the greatest month.
Naturally, it was revealed on the greatest night.
Nobody knows exactly which night Laylatul Qadr falls on.
Scholars mention it’s likely the 27th or perhaps the 23rd night of Ramadan, but all we know is that it lies hidden within the last ten nights, specifically on the odd-numbered ones.
With the way our Ramadans are scheduled, we may not even be sure if it’s an odd or even night today.
If your circumstances, whether a demanding job, family responsibilities, or an overwhelming schedule, allow for dedicated worship on only a few nights, then prioritizing the 27th or 23rd makes perfect sense.
However, ideally, we should approach each of these final nights with reverence and anticipation.
The cosmic scale of this night is truly awe-inspiring.
According to authentic narrations, on Laylatul Qadr, there are more angels present on Earth than rocks, and in another tradition, their numbers exceed the stars in the galaxy.
And what are all these countless angels doing?
Many will join our gatherings to bless us as we worship, while others will bring down Allah’s decree.
During these sacred hours, Allah determines the events of the upcoming year.
It is essentially a divine planning session for each of us—determining everything from our lifespans and sustenance to major life events and even the smallest details.
This night brings about new beginnings and fresh starts.
It is the optimal time to pour out your heart in dua—to ask Allah, and yourself, what you truly desire for the coming year, both in your faith and in your life.
Our supplications are especially powerful as the divine decree is revealed on this sacred night.
Seize this opportunity to converse with Allah, ask for whatever your heart desires, and embrace a genuine new beginning.
The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever stands in prayer during Laylatul Qadr with faith and seeking reward will have all previous sins forgiven."
It is a complete reset.
All it takes is sincere devotion on a single night.
In His infinite mercy, Allah has provided multiple paths to forgiveness during Ramadan: sincere fasting, consistent night prayers, and earnest worship on Laylatul Qadr.
Each of these acts serves as a spiritual safety net for the others. If your fasting wasn’t as strong as you hoped, your night prayers might compensate, and if you missed some night prayers, Laylatul Qadr could still secure your forgiveness.
And if you feel that your Ramadan hasn’t been perfect so far, remember what the Prophet ﷺ advised: if you showed weakness in the earlier parts of the month, don’t let that stop you from maximizing these final nights.
Now is the time to set aside past “failures,” lock in your devotion, and secure your blessings for the coming year.
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s email on incorporating a dopamine detox to maximize these last ten nights.
Reflection:
What might the uncertainty of Laylatul Qadr's exact date be teaching us?
What elements would you include if you were designing your ideal Laylatul Qadr night? What practical adjustments can you make to your schedule to maximize these remaining nights?

Sponsor An Orphan | Build A Well
Alhamdulillah, with this community's support, we have raised enough money to build 6 wells and support hundreds of orphans and families.
Islamic Ummah Relief is on the ground, actively providing aid.
But they can’t do it alone.
So far, they have distributed thousands of meals to many fasting during Ramadan.
With $50, we can provide food to a family for a month.
With $100, we can sponsor an orphan for a month or help build a well to provide a generation with water.
Be the answer to their du'as today and build your sadaqah jaariyah.

👶 SunnahStories:

One morning bright, with wagging tail,
A dog walked proud along the trail.
A bone he held, so firm, so tight,
He grinned with joy—it was his delight!
But soon he reached a river wide,
And peered into the glassy tide.
There stood a dog, so bold and free,
Holding a bone as fine as he!
"How dare he have a prize so grand?"
"I must have his within my hand!"
He barked aloud, with mighty greed,
But lost his own—**a foolish deed!**
For in the stream, the bone had dropped,
And to the depths, it slowly plopped.
He pawed and whined, but all in vain,
His precious treat was lost in pain.
A cat nearby, so wise and old,
Laughed and spoke with words of gold:
"Be pleased with what Allah has sent,"
"For greed brings loss, but joy—content!"
And so he learned, that very day,
To hold his gifts and not betray.
For when we want much more and more,
We risk the gifts we had before.
Reflection Questions:
1️⃣ Why did Rafiq lose his bone?
2️⃣ What mistake did he make when he saw his reflection?
3️⃣ What does Islam teach us about being grateful for what we have?
4️⃣ Can you think of a time when greed made things worse instead of better?
5️⃣ How can we practice gratitude in our daily lives?
