Maximize Your Time

Time Management Tool to Maximize Your TIme

Reading time: 1 minute

There are two blessings that many people are deceived into losing: health and free time.

Do you start your day with a task list?

Many of us are guilty of this habit, and while it makes us feel organized, there might be a more efficient method of directing the flow of our day.

Instead of using a task list, consider the concept of time blocking, where you assign tasks to the available hours in your day.

It encourages you to assess the gaps in your day when free from pre-set activities such as meetings, school pickups, or other unavoidable engagements.

Once you recognize these open slots, you can start assigning them tasks based on the nature of the respective functions.

For instance, you may notice many small gaps during your day; these are great for small, less demanding tasks. On the other hand, if you find a solid 90-minute window, it’s perfect for working on more challenging projects.

This method, known as fixed-schedule productivity, encourages more innovation in time and schedule management simply because it involves working within fixed hours.

Our spiritual duties are among the most significant aspects, but they are often neglected due to poor time management.

Many people feel drained and overwhelmed by their daily responsibilities, leaving little room for prayer (Salah) and remembrance of Allah (Dhikr).

However, you can carve out dedicated time slots for these vital activities by adopting fixed-schedule productivity.

Consider blocking specific times of the day for Salah and Dhikr. A best practice is to schedule your work around the five daily prayers.

This ensures that you fulfill your religious obligations and provides regular breaks from work, allowing you to recharge mentally and spiritually.

Beyond productivity, it's imperative to understand the role of sleep and exercise in enhancing cognitive function.

Regular exercise, such as pre-dinner workouts or walking kids to the bus stop, can significantly improve cognitive functions and keep the body stable as it ages.

Create time blocks for your three obligations: work, spiritual (prayers, meditations, dhikr, etc.), and physical (exercise, sleeping, cooking, etc.).

See how this can transform you into the person you have the potential to become.
