Three Doors to Jannah
A Mother’s Story of Faith and Gratitude
Reading time: 2 minutes
Trials are Allah’s way of purifying the heart.
Gratitude is the polish that makes it shine.
Imagine a mother whose three-year-old daughter suddenly stops speaking.
Alarmed, she rushes her to the doctor, only to receive a devastating diagnosis: a rare genetic disorder called MPS.
The doctor explains that her child will slowly lose all her abilities—speech, movement, even the ability to swallow.
Soon after, her second daughter begins to show the same symptoms.
Tests confirm the unthinkable: she, too, has MPS.
Then, her third daughter is diagnosed with the same disorder.
All three of her children are afflicted—a trial so rare that multiple siblings affected in one family is unheard of.
Her home transforms into a hospital.
Machines hum where children’s laughter once filled the air.
Days blur into nights as she becomes a tireless caregiver, hardly sleeping, dedicating every moment to her daughters’ needs.
She bears the unimaginable weight of watching her children deteriorate before her eyes, losing each precious faculty until, one by one, they pass away.
Early in this journey, as the weight of the diagnoses sank in and the reality of their condition began to unfold, her husband, overwhelmed, confided to her:
“I can't do this. Every time I look at them, all I see is three graves.”
She beautifully responded,
“Every time I look at them, all I see are three doors to Jannah.”
Subhanallah!
How does one see through such a lens?
It is the help of Allah—the transformative power of faith.
Trust in Allah and gratitude don’t erase the pain, but they reshape it.
Even as her world crumbled, she would say:
“Alhumdullilah, I am drowning in gratitude.”
Gratitude.
From a mother who held her children as they slipped away, who lived through trials that would break the strongest among us.
Gratitude, despite having no rest, no ease, and no respite from her test.
Her gratitude didn’t just help her survive—it allowed her to thrive.
Those who met her would find her always smiling, her spirit full of light despite the relentless tests she endured.
Life is filled with trials that will try to break us.
Yet, even in the darkest of times, the light of Allah’s mercy is always near.
May her example inspire us to cultivate gratitude and trust in Allah’s wisdom, no matter our challenges.
They give —despite their desire for it—to the poor, the orphan, and the captive.
So Allah will deliver them and grant them radiance and joy
