🤲 Du’a for Maya
Pride is sneaky.
It disguises itself as confidence, ambition—even self-expression.
We live in a time where everything revolves around the self.
But no one ever stops to ask:
What exactly is the self?
The ego is like a cobwebby, ghostlike thing.
It’s fragile.
It demands admiration because, deep down, it wants to be accepted.
That’s why we carefully curate our public image, switching personas depending on the crowd.
It’s why we crave validation and measure our worth by how others perceive us.
But here’s the thing: constantly performing is exhausting.
Then comes Ramadan.
The hunger kicks in, energy dips, and suddenly, the ego doesn’t have the same fuel to flex.
The need to impress weakens.
Even the Shayateen are locked up, so there are less external whispers feeding our arrogance.
This is the perfect time to ask: Who am I without the performance?
Ramadan humbles us.
It reminds us that we are primarily servants of Allah.
The Prophet ﷺ said,
Every religion has its distinct characteristic, and the distinct characteristic of Islam is modesty.
The Prophet ﷺ never set himself apart from the people.
He didn’t seek the spotlight, yet his existence illuminated every gathering.
His presence alone made him central in people’s hearts.
From Grand Mufti to Merchant
Mahmud Hudai wasn’t just any scholar—he was the Grand Mufti of Bursa.
One of those Ottoman scholars you picture with the massive turban, the fur-lined coat, always surrounded by sultans and high-ranking elites.
Wherever he went, he was welcomed with honor.
Yet, despite all his outward success, he longed for something deeper.
So, he approached a renowned teacher of the inner sciences and asked to become his student.
The teacher looked at him and said, "Of course, but first, you must pass your first lesson."
Hudai expected a scholarly challenge, perhaps a test of intellect.
Instead, the teacher gave him a task that made his stomach turn:
"Dress in your finest robes. Go to the marketplace with a basket of tripe (cow organs) and spend the entire day yelling, 'Tripe for sale! Tripe for sale!'"
Everything in him recoiled at the thought.
The humiliation was almost unbearable.
But his desire for truth was stronger than his pride.
So he pushed through the shame, carried the tripe to the bazaar, and did as he was told.
People stared.
Some laughed.
Others whispered.
But with every call of "Tripe for sale!" his attachment to his public image weakened.
By the end of the day, something inside him had changed.
He stopped caring so much.
And this is why he is remembered not for his status but for his transformation.
He became one of the great scholars of his time, attracting countless students.
This is what humility does.
It liberates you.
Here’s the irony: the pride we cling to is just a mask for our insecurities.
We inflate ourselves because, deep down, we fear we’re not enough.
Humility is about self-awareness.
It allows us to recognize our limitations and weaknesses, which is the first step to real self-improvement.
When we’re humble, we stop pretending and start growing.
It also opens the door to real connection.
When we let go of the need to impress, we become more empathetic, more grounded, and more present.
We see people for who they are, not as a reflection of how they make We look.
And in that space, relationships become genuine, and self-acceptance becomes effortless.
Let’s embrace the quiet strength of humility.
The kind that frees us from seeking approval and allows us to grow into who we’re truly meant to be.
Because the truth is, you have nothing to prove.
You are enough—exactly as Allah created you, exactly where He placed you.
Reflect on this:
How do I react when someone corrects me or offers criticism?
What is one way I can practice more humility in my daily interactions?
(We interrupt this broadcast with an effective remedy against our egos)

👶 SunnahStories:
One bright morning, off they went,
With donkey strong and bodies bent.
Uncle Kareem and Yusuf too,
Walked the road where breezes blew.
Some men called out, "Oh, what a sight!
A donkey there—yet none will ride!"
So Uncle said, "Come, Yusuf dear,
Ride atop, have no fear."
Then others gasped, "How rude, this boy!
His elder walks—while he enjoys!"
So off he climbed, his face now red,
And Uncle rode the beast instead.
Yet voices rose, "How cruel, this man!
His little nephew walks the land!"
So up they both climbed, feeling lost,
But more complaints—"What a heavy cost!"
"Have mercy, sir! This donkey tires!"
The merchants cried with strong desires.
So Uncle said, "Let’s lift it high,
And carry it before their eyes!"
Upon a pole, they tied it tight,
And struggled forth with all their might.
The people laughed—what a disgrace!
They dropped the donkey in their place.
Then Uncle spoke, "Oh Yusuf dear,
See now the lesson, loud and clear?
No matter what, complaints won’t cease,
So seek Allah—and live in peace!"
Reflection Questions:
1️⃣ Why did Uncle Kareem and Yusuf keep changing what they were doing?
2️⃣ What lesson did they learn at the end of the story?
3️⃣ Have you ever tried to please everyone but found it impossible?
4️⃣ How does Islam teach us to focus on pleasing Allah instead of people?
5️⃣ What is one thing you can do this week to focus on doing what is right, even if others disapprove?
🌎️ Ummah Spotlight:
Kyrie is Keeping it Real, MashAllah

Kyrie Irving—NBA All-Star, legendary point guard, and our Muslim brother—just made a statement without saying a word.
At a press conference, he wore a Palestine necklace—its links made of keys, symbolizing the stolen homes of Palestinians.
It's a subtle yet powerful stand. And given that his team’s owner, Miriam Adelson, is a staunch Zionist and prominent Israel and Trump supporter?
Even braver.
Much respect, Kyrie. Keep standing on truth.
We see you. We stand with you. And we make du’a for you.
