Sincerity in the Cause

The first of people against whom judgment will be pronounced on the Day of Resurrection will be one who died a martyr.

(Hadith 6, 40 Hadith Qudsi)

Where do we stand when the moment comes?

The best people are truthful martyrs, scholars, and sincere individuals.

And the worst are those who feign these noble qualities without genuine intent.

A martyr who has made the ultimate sacrifice is the first to testify on the day of judgment for all their actions. So what will happen to us?

It is all too easy to be swayed by the accolades and approval of people, but our focus must steadfastly remain on pleasing Allah.

In our collective endeavor to combat oppression and injustice, our involvement transcends mere spectacle and requires roots in sincere commitment. Our bravery and courage should be unwavering, and our actions should be driven by the greater good, untouched by personal acclaim or rewards.

As we labor to effect change in our world, let us regularly renew our intentions, ensuring that the private components of our goodness shine as brightly as those witnessed in public. Let us not be disheartened when our efforts are overlooked or discouraged when others outshine our endeavors.

And if we withdraw our efforts, what was our expectation in the first place?

It is essential to question whether our initial involvement was driven by a desire for public recognition or, in fact, for the pleasure of Allah.

And this is a question we must constantly ask ourselves through this journey.

If others surpass our efforts, it should not demoralize us into complete retreat. Instead, it should serve as an opportunity for us to reassess, reinvigorate, and recalibrate our approach, with the ultimate goal of returning more effectively to the service of Allah.

IMPORTANT: Our family in Gaza is standing up every day despite humiliation from the world. We can support them. Our partners at MATW are preparing seven trucks to enter Gaza this weekend with critical care.

Make your contribution count when they need it the most, insha allah.
