Divine Messages or Mind Tricks?
Let’s talk about something fascinating: dreams.
Not the "I'm late for an important meeting and suddenly my laptop disappears" type of dream, but the real ones.
The Prophet (ﷺ) taught us that dreams can be meaningful, even divine.
The most truthful of them in dreams will be the truest in speech among them.
The dream of a Muslim is a portion among the forty-six portions of Prophethood.
Dreams generally fall into three categories.
Some are subconsciously processing your thoughts, emotions, or daily experiences.
You might see someone you were thinking about or find yourself in a familiar scenario, but these dreams don’t carry deeper spiritual meanings but can provide insights into your psychology.
Then, there are nightmares—disturbing dreams designed by Shaytan to create fear and anxiety.
The Prophet (ﷺ) advised us not to dwell on these or share them with others.
Instead, seek refuge in Allah, change positions, and move on.
Finally, righteous dreams come from Allah as guidance, warnings, or glad tidings.
These are special and should be treated with care and shared with those who have wisdom and knowledge.
If they are positive, they can be shared with our loved ones to spread joy and inspiration.
As we approach the end of times, the Prophet (ﷺ) said that the dreams of believers will become more frequent and truthful.
To cultivate a state of mind that welcomes sincere dreams, we should end our nights free from worldly distractions—with prayer, Quran recitation, or quiet reflection.
The Prophet (ﷺ) also emphasized the importance of preparing for sleep in a way that protects us spiritually.
Making wudu before bed, sleeping on your right side, and reciting the four Quls and Ayat-ul-Kursi can help ensure a peaceful rest and minimize disturbing dreams.
So, how can you tell if a dream is truly righteous?
Here are some signs:
You remember it vividly, as if you were there.
It feels real, almost tangible, with precise details.
The dream has a meaningful connection to real-life events.
It brings a sense of peace and clarity rather than confusion.
It aligns with Islamic teachings and does not contradict the Shariah.
Dreams are a mysterious, often overlooked part of our faith but carry deep wisdom.
So, the next time you have a powerful dream, take a moment to reflect—maybe it is a message meant just for you.
Reflection
Have you ever received guidance or clarity from a dream?
How did it impact your decisions?

👶 SunnahStories
Beneath the sun so hot and bright,
Hamza worked from morning to night.
He cut the stone, so strong and tall,
Yet in his heart, he wished for all.
"If only I were rich!" he sighed,
"With golden robes and jewels of pride!"
A voice then echoed from the sky,
"Your wish is granted—wealth is nigh!"
Now dressed in silk, so full of cheer,
He thought his happiness was near.
But then he saw a ruler great,
And wished to change his lowly fate.
"A ruler’s power has no end!"
"If I were king, my heart would mend!"
And so, upon a throne so grand,
He ruled the people in the land.
But then the sun burned fierce and bright,
Its golden rays outshone his might.
"The sun is greater—I must be
The one who shines for all to see!"
And so he blazed, both hot and high,
Until a cloud came drifting by.
It cooled the earth, it dimmed the light,
"A cloud is strongest in its might!"
Then as the cloud rained loud and long,
The mountain stood both firm and strong.
"The mountain’s power none can shake,
I wish to stand with none to break!"
So strong he stood, so tall and high,
Until a sound came drifting by—
A tap, a chisel, light but bold,
That carved the mountain’s side with hold.
"What could be stronger still than me?"
"A simple man with tools so free?"
He looked below and saw his past,
His stonecutter hands, strong and fast.
At last, he knew—he’d wished in vain,
For chasing more brings only pain.
"Ya Allah, please return my fate,
Let me be small, yet truly great!"
And so he worked, both strong and true,
With gratitude in all he’d do.
For wealth and power fade away,
But contentment in the heart will stay.
Reflection Questions:
1️⃣ Why did Hamza keep wanting to be something greater?
2️⃣ What did he realize at the end of the story?
3️⃣ How does Islam teach us about gratitude and contentment?
4️⃣ Can you think of something in your life that you should appreciate more?
5️⃣ What does “True richness is the richness of the soul” mean to you?
