The Sunnah of Refuting Propaganda

Falsehoods can become the dominant narrative when power is misused to shut down truth.

We, equipped with merely our cellphones or laptops, have become soldiers in a war of public opinion. This fight against propaganda is an integral part of our faith - extending truth's reach and countering the narrative of the oppressor.

The Prophet ﷺ warned of future leaders who would resort to misinformation and oppression. Those who support oppressors would be alienated from divine grace, while those who resist would remain faithful and receive the Prophet’s ﷺ blessings.

Our role in this dynamic is crucial.

Standing up to oppressors with the truth is brave, but so is debunking their falsehoods for all to see. As we grapple with an increasing erosion of truth, our task becomes more challenging yet necessary.

During the Prophet’s ﷺ time, believers faced persecution for upholding the truth. Today, we're confronted with similar risks when speaking out for the rights of the innocent. Despite these risks, our commitment to confronting and opposing oppression is vital.

By actively countering misinformation, especially the narratives pushed by powerful propaganda machines, we contribute to a discourse rooted in truth and justice. It's a commitment to standing up for the oppressed, like the people of Palestine and making a difference where it counts.
