The Meaning of Subhanallah

Reading Time: 1 min

Sins will be forgiven, even if they are as abundant as the foam of the sea.

Translating to "Glory be to Allah" or "Praise be to Allah," 'SubhanAllah' is more than just those words.

It's a heartfelt declaration of Allah’s perfection, emphasizing that He is beyond any faults or imperfections. It is an acknowledgment that everything in the heavens and the earth glorifies Him in its unique way.

From Surahs that begin with 'Sabbaha lilaah' to Musa’s heartfelt 'Subhanaka tubtu ilaik,' this tasbih is woven throughout the Qur’an. During our prayers, especially in the intimate moments of sujud or prostration, we recite, 'Subhanna Rabbi al 'Ala' - 'How perfect is my Lord, the Most High.'

It’s a declaration of His perfection and an affirmation of His closeness to us, His creations.

In our daily lives, 'SubhanAllah' is often recited when we witness the wonders of creation.

In moments of personal shortcomings, this phrase becomes part of our repentance, a testament to our desire to maintain a close relationship with the divine despite our imperfections.

Such consistent remembrance holds transformative power, with the potential to erase sins as vast as the foam of the sea.

Set aside a few minutes after each of your daily prayers to recite 'SubhanAllah' 33 times. As you do, reflect on its meaning and let it resonate deeply within you.

This simple act, when done consistently, can serve as a powerful reminder of Allah's perfection and our relationship with Him.
