The Meaning of Ramadan
Reading time: 1 minute
A special thank you to:
When the month of Ramadan begins, the gates of the heaven are opened, the gates of Hellfire are closed, and the devils are chained.
Imagine waking up early in preparation for Eid with a new outfit and the best perfume.
You're reflecting on how fast Ramadan passed and everything you accomplished.
What do you want that reflection to be?
The Holy Month of Ramadan is upon us, a time of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community for millions of Muslims around the globe.
The word Ramadan is derived from the Arabic word Ramidha رَمِضَ or Ar-Ramad الرَمَضُ, which means intense scorching heat. It is also derived from the word Ramdha الرمضاء, which means sun-baked sand.
It's akin to the intense purification of iron in a furnace to become steel.
This is the intense spiritual endeavor that characterizes the month.
So, what's your goal for Ramadan?
Each year, when Ramadan arrives, we enter it shoulder-to-shoulder with millions of other Muslims.
The beauty of Ramadan lies not just in the collective act of worship but in the unique individual journeys each of us embarks upon during this auspicious month.
After all, Ramadan is not just about observing the requirements but using the sanctuary of the month to become better versions of ourselves in our connection to Allah.
To make Ramadan fruitful, set a daily target for learning something new to develop spiritually.
Try to abstain from a specific sin or vice each day.
Whatever we choose, this is an affair between us and Allah, not meant to be discussed publicly but used as a source of introspection and motivation.
As we prepare to welcome Ramadan, let's think deeply about our personal goals and how to make every moment of this blessed month count.
Through self-discipline, commitment, and a desire to turn closer to Allah, we can make this Ramadan a landmark on our spiritual journey.
