Lessons from Sarah (AS) and Ibrahim (AS)
Trust, Faith, and Strength in Marriage
Reading time: 2 minutes
A husband and wife complete each other through their differences, and Allah's wisdom is in the harmony of their union.
Sarah (AS) left everything behind—her family, her comforts, and her home—to follow her husband Ibrahim (AS) and the truth of Islam.
Her beauty was renowned, but it was her character, integrity, and unwavering commitment to Allah that set her apart.
Their journey brought them to Palestine, but along the way, they passed through Egypt, a land ruled by a tyrant king.
When the king’s men spotted Sarah (AS), they informed him of her beauty and brought her to his palace.
Before this encounter, Ibrahim (AS) had been warned by the angel Jibreel (AS) and instructed Sarah (AS) to tell the soldiers that he was her brother—not a lie, but a truth rooted in their shared bond as believers.
Strength in the Face of Adversity
When Sarah (AS) was brought before the king, her trust in Allah never wavered. As he attempted to abuse her, she turned to Allah in dua:
"O Allah, if You know that I have guarded my chastity, my dignity, and my honor, protect me from this tyrant."
Each time he tried to approach her, his arms became paralyzed.
Frightened and desperate, the king finally relented and released her, gifting her Hajar (AS) as a servant.
Little did he know that this act would set the stage for Allah’s grand plan, leading to the lineage of Ismail (AS) and the establishment of the Kaaba.
Trust and Reliance in Allah
When Sarah (AS) returned to Ibrahim (AS), she found him praying.
After he finished, he asked, “What happened?” Her response was simply: “Allah took care of us.”
Ibrahim (AS) inquired no further.
His silence reflected an extraordinary level of trust—trust in his wife’s strength, her dignity, and, most importantly, Allah’s divine wisdom.
This interaction demonstrates the depth of their partnership, one built on mutual respect and faith.
Sarah (AS) knew she could rely on her husband’s unwavering trust, while Ibrahim (AS) knew his wife was capable and firmly supported by Allah.

Oh Allah, protect her from the trials and punishment of the grave. Make her grave spacious, filled with light, peace, and comfort. Elevate her ranks and grant her a place in Jannatul Firdaus, in the company of the righteous, the prophets, and those You love.
Ya Rabb, make her journey to the Hereafter one of ease and honor, and grant her family patience and strength as they navigate this loss. Let her legacy of love and faith be a source of sadaqah jariyah for her.
