Bismillah. Welcome to DailySunnah.

Ramadan is the month of fasting, but ironically, it’s also when food takes center stage.

Iftar tables overflow, group chats turn into mini food expos, and let’s be honest, we all have a mental countdown till Maghrib.

But what if we made iftar less about consumption and more about connection with each other and our food?

You know that pure joy—the awareness that floods in with the first bite of iftar?

What if you carried that same gratitude and presence throughout the entire meal?

Ramadan is the perfect time to reset—not just our spiritual habits but also how we approach everyday moments, like eating.

Iftar with family is a refreshing change from distracted, rushed meals. The Sunnah of eating with intention isn’t just about slowing down; it’s about being fully present.

Turning off distractions, engaging with those around us, and recognizing that every bite is a blessing from Allah transforms a simple meal into an act of worship.

This shift nourishes both body and soul in a world where meals are often consumed in front of screens.

Eating With Intention: A Sunnah and a Science

The Prophet ﷺ didn’t just eat—he experienced his food with mindfulness, gratitude, and connection.

  • He began with Bismillah and broke his fast with dates and water.

  • He ate slowly, chewed properly, and never overindulged.

  • He reminded us that eating isn’t just physical—it’s spiritual.

Science backs this up: eating slowly aids digestion and helps us recognize when we’re full.

But how often do our eyes get bigger than our stomachs at iftar?

Before we know it, we’re sprawled on the couch, regretting that third serving of biryani.

Ramadan trains us in self-restraint.

If we can practice moderation now, it’ll be much easier to carry it beyond Ramadan.

Eating with presence helps us find that fine line where nourishment turns into overindulgence.

Conversations That Feed the Soul

We all know that pre-iftar mood—hunger levels are high, patience levels are low. But let’s consciously foster a positive atmosphere.

  • Let’s smile at one another, contribute to preparation and have a peaceful iftar.

  • Show gratitude to whoever prepared the meal.

  • Let’s be mindful of our words—the Prophet ﷺ discouraged gossip, negativity, and meaningless chatter, especially during meals.

  • Instead of complaining about the samosas being too oily, let’s share reflections, express gratitude, or simply enjoy each other’s company in silence.

This Ramadan, let’s turn mealtimes into moments of mindfulness, gratitude, and connection.

Reflect on this.

How can your table conversations bring more barakah to your Ramadan?

👶 SunnahStories:

The Drifting Raft

On a river, calm and wide,
Omar rowed with gentle pride.
His basket full, his heart so light,
He praised Allah for dawn so bright.

The breeze was cool, the world at rest,
A morning filled with barakah, blessed.
But as he drifted, lost in thought,
A wooden raft came—unforgot!

It floated fast, without a guide,
And BUMP! it struck his fishing side!
Omar gasped, his smile erased,
His hands were shaking, heart now raced.

"Who dares to push me on this stream?
Have they no care? How rude they seem!"
He turned to glare, to raise his voice,
But then—he stopped. He made a choice.

The raft was empty, light and bare,
No one sat, no one there.
Just the current, just the tide,
Carried it along the side.

His anger melted, like the mist,
He smiled and whispered, "Alhamdulillāh."
"No hands have steered, no heart to blame,
It’s Allah’s Will—just like the rain."

He thought upon the Prophet’s way,
Who taught to pause and not to fray.
"The strong are those who do not fight,
But hold their tongue and choose the right."

So off he rowed, with peace inside,
His heart at ease, no wounded pride.
He learned that trials, big or small,
Come from Allah, the Lord of all.

😆 Meme of the Day:

🤲Make Dua for Hassan Makhlof

Ya Allah, Most Merciful, forgive Hassan and raise his rank among the guided. Grant him Your mercy and take care of those he leaves behind. Expand his grave and fill it with light and peace.

Oh Allah, grant him an honorable reception, purify him of his sins as a white garment is purified, and admit him into the highest ranks of Jannah. Protect him from the punishment of the grave and the Hellfire, and grant him eternal peace in Your presence.

Ameen, Ya Rabb al-'Alamin.
