The Power of "Get"
Reading time: 2 minutes
IMPORTANT: Follow the instructions at the end of the reflection.
We all hope to live to see the next Ramadan, but that is not guaranteed.
However, every Ramadan that Allah blesses us with is a unique gift that many others don't have.
We have to show gratitude for this special chance to get closer to Him and to pray for the betterment of the entire Ummah.
In Ramadan's unique spiritual journey, we have to abstain from food and drink from dawn till dusk.
We have to reduce our worldly desires and increase our spiritual ones.
We have to reconnect with Allah and perceive His existence in every aspect of our lives.
We have to see beyond worldly illusions and focus on the eternal reality, which is Allah.
This month, we have to bond with our Muslim brothers and sisters worldwide.
Despite our different cultures and languages, we have to share the experience of Ramadan.
We have to feel for each other, help, and be there for each other as if we are all one comprehensive body.
If one part of the body feels pain, the whole body responds in sympathy.
We have to remove all barriers between us and feel the unity of the Ummah as we collectively seek Allah's mercy and forgiveness through fasting, prayer, and good deeds.
In Ramadan, we have to remember the transience of this life and the permanence of the Hereafter.
Every day we live in this world brings us closer to our destiny in the Hereafter.
This realization is meant to steer us from worldly pursuits towards our ultimate goal: attaining Allah's pleasure and eternal success in the Hereafter.
It sheds light on the true value of our existence and sets our priorities straight.
So, remember, in this blessed month, we have to be part of a much larger narrative. Amidst all the chaos and problems of this world, we have to work towards our salvation while carrying the entire Ummah with us.
Instruction: Reread this reflection again and replace the words “have to” to “get to”.

🪞 Reflection:
How often do you say “have to” instead of “get to”?
Today, practice rephrasing your thoughts and words and internalize the feeling of having the privilege to do something instead of requiring to do something.
