And Pharaoh said, “Let me kill Moses, and let him call upon his Lord! I truly fear that he may change your traditions or cause mischief in the land.

The Pharaoh, at that time, was considered a superpower.

His empire was the mightiest of its time, and no one dared to challenge him. The Pharaoh had political alliances with other civilizations, and even the royals and princes of other nations came to him for education. The monuments in Egypt today were built to intimidate and warn others not to mess with them.

Allah describes the Pharaoh's civilization as a people of pegs.

This can be understood in multiple ways. One interpretation is that their massive army required portable military camps, which were pegged down with tents. Another interpretation is that the Pharaoh constantly used his military to control his population, pegging them down and segregating them.

Allah sent Musa to challenge the Pharaoh and his empire.

Musa was not only sent with the word of Allah, but also with clear authority. The truth itself was an authority that was given to Musa. This message was not just for the Pharaoh but also his government, military strategists, and even the hypocrites and spies within the believing community.

The Pharaoh and his empire devised a response strategy.

They couldn't simply kill the Israelites because they were benefiting from their suffering. Instead, they wanted to control the narrative and make the Israelites appear as a threat. They created a propaganda machine to label Musa as a magician and a liar and to portray the Israelites as dangerous.

The Pharaoh kept the Israelites in encampments, essentially creating an open-air prison. He wanted to break their spirit by killing their children. His policy was to target the children while keeping enough women alive to ensure the continuation of the Israelite population.

This was part of his military strategy to suppress the Israelites.

But despite all of this, the Israelites remained hopeful and steadfast in their faith. They did not let go, even in the face of immense hardship. The Pharaoh was terrified of them, even though he had all the power, security, and control.

The Pharaoh's response escalated to the point where he wanted to kill Musa, their leader and prophet. He believed that by killing Musa, he could break the spirit of the Israelites. He even made a press release claiming that if the Israelites were not stopped, they would change their religion and corrupt the nation.

He portrayed the Israelites and their faith as a threat to the national identity.

The Pharaoh decided to launch a ground invasion against the Israelites.

He gathered his soldiers and gave them a motivational speech, even though they would attack a civilian population. He dehumanized the Israelites, calling them pathetic, powerless, and useless. He made his soldiers angry and instilled hatred in them, urging them to rid the country of these "insects" and "animals."

This story in the Quran serves as a blueprint for every Pharaoh that comes after. It teaches us about the strategies of oppression and the importance of remaining steadfast in our faith. It reminds us that even in the face of fear and intimidation, there is always hope. The Pharaoh's strategy ultimately fails, and Allah assures us that the schemes of disbelievers will always go to waste.

So, let us reflect on this story and find healing, guidance, and understanding in the Quran. Let us learn from the lessons of the past and apply them to our present circumstances. And let us remain hopeful and steadfast in our faith, knowing that the truth and justice will always prevail.
