Cleansing Through Charity
Every morning we are visited by two angels. One of them says: 0 Allah, give him more who spends (for the sake of Allah), and the other says: 0 Allah, bring destruction to one who withholds.
In a hadith, it was reported that while a person was in the wilderness, he heard a voice from the cloud (commanding it thus): Irrigate the garden of so and so.
After that, the clouds slinked aside and poured water on the stony ground.
It filled a channel amongst the channels of that land, and that person followed that water, and he found a person standing in the garden, busy changing the course of water with the help of a hatchet.
He said to him: Servant of Allah, what is your name? He said: So and so.
And it was that very name which he had heard from the clouds.
He then said to him: Servant of Allah, why do you ask me my name?
He said: I heard a voice from the clouds, which is the downpour, saying: Water the garden of so and so, like your name.
What do you do (for the favor) shown to you by Allah in this matter?
He responded with his secret.
Everything that he earns, he cuts it into into three parts:
1/3 that is for his family
1/3 for investments
1/3 for charity
This is the divine equation for good in our lives.
We don’t want someone to request funding or to invite us to Jannah. The rewards are ever present between us and Allah.
Every day, we ought to cherish and leverage the opportunity to give, do our bit towards bettering lives, humbly contribute - be it large or small - and allow it to be a part of our daily routine.
Just as we strive to include good deeds in our lives, this act of giving and charity should be a tradition that we encourage within our families, building a legacy of compassion and generosity.
We never know whose prayers might be working in our favor.
Imagine the righteousness of the angels praying for us every day if we could make it a habit to contribute daily.
Much like casually locating and requesting a saintly person to pray for our well-being, we have this incredible daily opportunity where an angel could pray for our blessings.
Hence, every day can be an opportunity if we look simply at our daily lives.
An opportunity to give, to be thankful, and to be remembered in the prayers of angels.
Our faith has always emphasized the beauty of giving, and today, we continue to reaffirm this belief and hope you join us in making charity a beautiful daily habit.
