Akhlaq

Righteousness is not in turning your faces towards the east or the west. Rather, the righteous are those who believe in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Books, and the prophets; who give charity out of their cherished wealth to relatives, orphans, the poor, ˹needy˺ travellers, beggars, and for freeing captives; who establish prayer, pay alms-tax, and keep the pledges they make; and who are patient in times of suffering, adversity, and in ˹the heat of˺ battle. It is they who are true ˹in faith˺, and it is they who are mindful ˹of Allah˺.

We must confront an uncomfortable truth.

Nobody is shielded from racism, discrimination, or judgment.

And acknowledging the existence of these societal diseases is the first step towards combating them.

It requires a deep introspection of our pre-conceived biases and a sincere effort to reframe our deepest beliefs and attitudes.

This journey towards transformation begins with Akhlaq.

Akhlaq represents a realm where virtues such as love, empathy, mercy, forgiveness, and open hearts are our daily experiences.

The essence of the Sunnah exemplifies how these virtues can penetrate hearts and souls, transforming our regular interactions into manifestations of divine teachings.

The Prophet's (pbuh) life is a testament to the power of virtuous conduct in engendering respect, integrity, and honor among individuals.

Through the character, he was able to transform his community and eventually the world.

He emphasized the importance of treating others with kindness and respect, reminding us that Paradise lies in our compassion toward our fellow beings.

And while laws and declarations aim to address these issues at the surface, Akhlaq invites us to engage in a more profound, internal transformation.

By fostering tolerance, respect, and love within ourselves, we can inspire those changes in the wider community, paving the way for a world built upon ethical conduct and mutual respect.

Remember that the eradication of racism and the cultivation of a just and compassionate world begins with each of us.

In our spiritual journey, a step towards prophetic living is the commitment to improving our moral character, to living in a manner that when we are absent, people crave our company, and when we are present, they feel the warmth and comfort of our virtuous conduct.

Let us strive to embody the Akhlaq of the Prophet (pbuh), becoming beacons of light and hope in a world yearning for guidance and love.

Whoever gives food for a fasting person to break his fast, he will have a reward like theirs, without that detracting from their reward in the slightest.

We are calling on the Daily Sunnah Ummah to help us raise $10,000 to provide Ramadan food packages and iftar for orphans, widows, and less privileged in Ghana, Nigeria, Niger, and Uganda.

Every dollar goes towards feeding our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters who continue to be steadfast in their faith despite their current situation.

All contributions are zakat-eligible.

Jazakumu Allahu Khayran, may Allah reward you for your support.

Envy is only allowed in two cases.

When a person is given wealth and uses it properly.

When a person is given knowledge and applies it and teaches it.

Contribute your wealth to charity and toward giving knowledge.

Signing up will automate your daily charitable giving to a verified organization during Ramadan.

As a thank you, we will ship an eternitea double-walled glass set (valued at $40) to everyone who signs up for the Ramadan challenge for at least $3/day.

Please respond to this email with your address once you’ve signed up!
